This posting is for the U.S. facility located on the Space Coast in Brevard County Florida.

DUTY & RESPONSIBILITY

As a Thermal Engineer in the US office, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer and will support Argotecs’ global Systems Design teams. Support includes performing thermal design, analysis, and test of satellites.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work independently and autonomously while being backed by the support of an experienced multi-functional team from the Argotecs’ headquarters in Italy.

Specific Duties Include (but not limited to):

  • Propulsion subsystem (PS) design through all mission phases
  • Performance analysis, modelling, and simulations
  • Technical trade-off, sizing, and architecture selection of PS and ADCS hardware
  • Design/architecture and selection of components
  • Definition and management of technical requirements and specifications
  • Supporting the definition of mission and platform conops
  • Management of system budgets with a particular focus on deltaV, momentum, and pointing budgets
  • Support AIT, AIV, acceptance, and qualification activities
  • Support for risk assessment and FMEA

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Team player and a “Do what it takes” attitude
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Engineering, or other related STEM discipline and typically 14 or more years of Engineering or relevant experience (relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education)
  • US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Strong background in any of the following areas
    • Knowledge of smallsats propulsion systems (chemical, cold gas, and electrical)
    • Knowledge of smallsats AOCS suite
    • Knowledge of spacecraft attitude dynamics
    • Basic knowledge of bi-phase liquid thermodynamic
    • Demonstrate a good understanding of AOCS and propulsion architecture and design
    • Experience with momentum management strategies
    • Experience in management of industrial activities including reviews
    • Interface (electrical/logical) between the ADCS and propulsion system
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in the Space or Defense
  • Familiar with Aerospace standards and tailoring
  • Spacecraft real-time operation/execution of AOCS manuevers
  • Spacecraft commissioning of the propulsion system and ADCS
  • Knowledge of orbital dynamics and smallsats navigation
  • GNC algorithm design e.g. navigation filters, guidance strategies, and/or controllers
  • Advanced knowledge of Matlab, Simulink, Python and C/C++

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat the same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
  • Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises
