Argotec is an international aerospace company specializing in the production of small satellite platforms (from 6U Cubesats up to 250kg-platforms) and innovative products to improve the comfort of space explorers. Thanks to its facilities and know-how, the company's activities follow the "all in-house" concept, which includes design, development, integration, qualification and operational services. 

 

Argotec works with leading international space agencies (e.g. NASA, ESA) and private companies, with an increasing focus on commercial partnerships. In particular, our satellites have been selected for flagship missions such as NASA Artemis-1 and NASA DART. The company is advancing several major missions, such as a 40-satellite Earth observation constellation for integration into the Italian IRIDE program, as well as scientific missions such as LUMIO and HENON, and many other cutting-edge space projects.

 

This posting is for the U.S facility located on the Space Coast in Brevard County, Florida.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY

 

As a Mechanical Engineer II in the US Officeyou will report to the Head of Engineering and will support Argotec’s global Systems Design teams. Support includes design, development, qualification and testing of Mechanical and Structural systems. 

In this position, you will work with autonomy and in a highly collaborative team environment. Besides the US team, you will also have the support of an experienced multi-functional team from Argotec’s headquarters in Italy.
 

Specific duties include (but not limited to):

 

  • Computer-Aided Design and 3-D Modeling of vehicle systems
  • Finite Element Modeling (FEM) analysis
  • Support AIT, AIV, acceptance and qualification activities
  • Support for risk assessment and FMEA
  • Support to other company’s Units.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 

  • Team player and a “Do what it takes” attitude.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Engineering or other related STEM discipline.
  • 3 or more years of professional experience in the role (relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education).
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Strong expertise in structural dynamics, including analysis and application of key principles.
  • In-depth understanding and application of structures and structural dynamics principles.
  • Proficiency in application of finite element method (FEM) analysis principles.
  • Ability to define and integrate dynamics requirements into the system baseline.
  • Hands-on experience with finite element numerical software, such as NASTRAN.
  • Familiarity with space and launch environments, including environments derivation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software packages such as SolidWorks 
  • Great problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.

 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

 

  • Background in Space or Defense sector will be considered as a significant plus.
  • Familiar with Aerospace standards and tailoring.
  • Experience with MATLAB.
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Must possess multi-tasking skills and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency. 

 

 

PHYSICAL / MENTAL / EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity.
  • Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises.
