Luca Goretti is an experienced defense executive, former Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force and strategic military advisor, with a distinguished 40-year career in operational leadership, aerospace defense, and international government relations. His expertise includes the ability to interpret complex industrial and geopolitical scenarios, providing strategic counsel to ministries of defense, joint alliances, and global institutions on high-value issues such as rapid technological evolutions, cooperation agreements, and national security frameworks. Furthermore, he possesses deep knowledge of aerospace regulations, procurement, and strategies for the monitoring and protection of critical assets.
Throughout his career at the pinnacle of Defense, he served at the highest levels of the Italian Air Force, holding the role of Chief of Staff since 2021. Prior to that, he consolidated his international vision and deep understanding of the aerospace sector by serving as Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Cabinet to the Minister of Defense, and Defense Cooperation Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in Washington D.C., where he managed high-level diplomatic relations.
He holds a Degree in Aeronautical Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II and a Master's Degree in Strategic Military Studies. He is a highly experienced military pilot; he completed his initial training as part of the Zodiaco III course at the prestigious Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli and took part in major international operations, including the Gulf War and missions in the Balkans.
General Goretti has been awarded numerous prestigious decorations, including the title of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and the United States Legion of Merit (Commander degree).
