To support our Company’s growth, we are looking for a Head of Systems Engineering Unit who will lead the end-to-end system engineering activities across all company projects, from the conception of small satellites to their delivery. You will be responsible for building, inspiring and guiding a high-performing team of systems engineers to ensure technical excellence, innovation and seamless collaboration across all functions. 

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in leading multidisciplinary teams, managing complex space programs and delivering cutting-edge satellite systems within the space and defense sectors.

DUTIES
 

As Head of Systems Engineering Unit, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you will play a strategic role in shaping the technical vision and ensuring the success of Argotec’s satellite missions. You will be responsible for establishing and evolving robust system engineering processes, managing requirements and interfaces, and driving the technical team towards operational excellence and mission success.

 

 

The activities will include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of Systems Engineers, ensuring alignment with project objectives and corporate strategy;
  • Day-by-day Coordination with Team Leaders to ensure alignment of Systems Engineering processes across the whole team;
  • Promote the continuous improvement of system engineering processes, tools, and methodologies, introducing best practices and fostering a culture of innovation;
  • Allocation of resources to projects and product developments, according to Project Management Office and Product Management Office;
  • Support the definition and control of the Unit financial budgets;
  • Support the preparation of projects’ milestones and technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, QR);
  • Take care of the recruitment of new team members according to workforce needs;
  • Guide the preparation, review, and delivery of technical documentation for internal and external reviews (customers, subcontractors, suppliers).

 

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
 

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related technical fields;
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Systems Engineering for space projects, including at least 5 years in a leadership or team management role;
  • Proven experience in the execution of complex engineering projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing technical teams;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and at all levels of seniority;
  • Hands-on, proactive, and results-driven approach;
  • Strong analytical mindset and continuous learning attitude;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

 

  • Proven track record in the design, development and qualification of satellite systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead system engineering activities across multiple projects or satellite constellations;
  • In-depth knowledge of satellite architecture, requirements management, and system integration;
  • Previous experience in managing technical interfaces and coordinating multidisciplinary teams;
  • Strong leadership skills, with focus on team development, training and cross-functional collaboration;
  • Experienced knowledge of aerospace systems applicable standards (ECSS, MIL, NASA STD);
  • Experience in the preparation and execution of system-level reviews and technical documentation;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Strong decision-making skills and a result-driven approach.

     

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

 

  • Demonstrated experience in the space and defense sectors;
  • Knowledge of Ground Segment architecture and operations;
  • Experienced knowledge of Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence);
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn.
