Argotec is an Italian aerospace company specializing in the production of small satellite platforms (from 6U Cubesats up to +250kg-platforms) and innovative products to improve the comfort of space explorers. Thanks to its facilities and know-how, the company's activities follow the "all in-house" concept, which includes design, development, integration, qualification, and operational services. At Argotec, we’re not just building satellites; we’re shaping the future of space innovation.

To support our Company’s growth, we are looking for a Thermal Engineer to join our Mechanical and Thermal Engineering Unit. You will contribute to the design and development of Thermal Control Systems (TCS) for spacecraft, as well as performing thermal design for electronic, propulsion and optical subsystems. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in all phases of the mission, from preliminary design to testing.

We foster a collaborative environment where every Argonaut can contribute with their ideas and expertise, create meaningful value together, and transform feedback and mistakes into opportunities for learning and innovation, growing both professionally and personally, as individuals and as a team.

DUTIES

As a Thermal Engineer, you will play a key role as both thermal architect and analyst, contributing to the definition, development and validation of the spacecraft Thermal Control System (TCS) across the entire product lifecycle. You will be responsible for the end-to-end thermal design, from early-phase architecture definition and trade-offs to detailed thermal modelling, analysis and test correlation. You will drive thermal activities within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring consistency between thermal design, mechanical integration and AIT constraints.

The activities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Design and sizing of active and passive thermal control solutions;
  • Development and analysis of thermal mathematical models for systems and subsystems, ensuring appropriate definition and reliability;
  • Post processing of test data for thermal model correlation;
  • Preparation of technical documentation and test specification and setup;
  • Mechanical prototyping of thermal hardware;
  • Support to AIT phases in ISO7 cleanroom environment, ensuring compliance with integration constraints;
  • Management of relationship with thermal hardware supplier and customers.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Energy, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field;
  • At least 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the aerospace or space industry;
  • Strong team-working attitude and ability to operate in cross-functional environments;
  • High flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, project-driven context;
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

  • Proven experience in thermal engineering projects within the aerospace/space domain;
  • Experience in driving thermal design activities;
  • Previous experience in Thermal Control Systems design for spacecraft;
  • Strong professional knowledge of ESATAN-TMS;
  • Good knowledge of ECSS standards;
  • Strong analytical mindset and structured problem-solving approach;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical challenges under tight deadlines;
  • Proactive mindset and continuous learning attitude.

 ADDITIONAL ASSETS

  • Previous experience with TVAC testing will be considered as a plus;
  • Knowledge of MIL/Space Standards;
  • Ability to work with tight schedules.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in technical work.
