To support our Company’s growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic Platform Systems Engineer who will be part of our Systems Engineering Unit, contributing to the development of innovative and exciting space missions based on Small Satellite platforms, with a primary focus on system architecture and platform design and implementation processes.

DUTIES 

  

As a Platform Systems Engineer, you will manage all the critical aspects of the spacecraft design and architecture, overseeing all system-level activities.  
In this role, you will ensure full compliance with system-level requirements, contributing to complex space missions throughout the complete spacecraft life cycle, from proposal and design phases to launch and in-orbit operations. 

  

The activities will include (but are not limited to): 

 

  • Involvement in space projects (from phase 0/A up to E) as accountable for system- and subsystem-level design activities; 
  • Coordination with the Mission Architect / Technical Lead and other technical figures in the team; 
  • Definition and management of technical requirements and specifications throughout the entire project lifecycle; 
  • Support the definition of Mission Concepts of Operations and Mission profiles; 
  • Develop, support and review system analyses and budgets; 
  • Perform functional and FMEA analyses, leading to FDIR development; 
  • Preparation of technical documentation, reports and technical notes; 
  • Support AIT, AIV and qualification activities at system or subsystem levels; 
  • Support Flight Operations definition and execution; 
  • Interface with Quality Department and participate in (external/internal) NRB and NCR processes and configuration control processes; 
  • Preparation of technical proposals for new projects.  

 

  

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace or Space Engineering or related technical field; 
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within space field; 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams; 
  • High flexibility and team-working capability; 
  • Hands-on and proactive approach; 
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary and international teams; 
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English. 

 

  

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS 

 

  • Knowledge of system budgets (at least mass, power, energy, volume); 
  • Knowledge of mission, system and subsystems requirements definition and validation; 
  • Good understanding of satellite architecture and design; 
  • Knowledge of interfaces between subsystems (data, power, electrical); 
  • Knowledge of mission phases (as ECSS standard) and main activities to be performed; 
  • General knowledge of spacecraft AIV campaign steps; 
  • Knowledge of system engineering tools and processes; 
  • Knowledge of aerospace systems applicable standards, such as ECSS, MIL, NASA STD; 
  • Knowledge of space component technologies and European/market of Small Satellite. 

 

 

ADDITIONAL ASSETS 

 

  • Experience in the AOCS field will be considered a plus; 
  • Knowledge of FDIR design and implementation; 
  • Experience with MBSE approach and implementation; 
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence in Agile working framework; 
  • Experience with CubeSat and SmallSat platforms; 
  • Experience with in-orbit spacecraft operations; 
  • Performed projects review under Agency supervision (e.g. ESA, NASA, ASI).
